  • Question

  • When I click on Portfolio the result displayed is a small square box which I cannot make larger.  What have I done and how can I correct it.

  • Hold on to your backups, and make copies of them onto other media.

Copy sample.mny from your Money installation folder (typically in
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money 2006") to your Documents folder.

Open that copy of sample.mny. Does the Portfolio show as OK?

Try creating a new Administrative user, and see what happens if you open and use Money 2006 as that user.

  • Thanks for responding Cal.  I opened the sample.mny file and it was exactly the same.  I do not know how to create a new Administrative window.

  • I think you are saying that the Portfolio did not display when you opened the Sample.mny file.

I meant to say "Administrative user", and I edited my earlier post accordingly.  Sorry.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/279783 tells how to create a new user in XP.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/create-new-user-account-in-windows-vista-7/ shows how to do it in Windows 7 or Vista.

The reason for making the new user is that the new user gets settings set for the initial defaults. These settings include the settings for Internet Explorer, which Money uses to perform its operations. If things work as that new user, you can look to change settings in the older account.

In a few cases, you may not be able to get the old account working, and then other steps can be taken.

If things don't work properly as the new user, the problem could be some third party security software which is causing a problem.
