Backup warning RRS feed

  • Question

  • I  have a laptop connected to my WHS. The laptop is not used very often. This gives me warnings that the computer has not been backuped.

As I have several computers in the network that WHS makes bacups on then it is not intresting for me to see this warning when I do not have the laptop online.

Is ther any way to configure WHS to disable these warnings until the laptop is online? And at the sametime start the backup?

  • No, there's no way to disable the warnings if the laptop isn't on line. You can change the backup warning threshold for each of your PCs individually if you install the Windows Home Server toolkit. You should read the toolkit documentation, as the installation procedure is a bit more complicated than just running a setup program.

  • Thanks Ken

you solved my problem. I have now set the number of days 30 for warning which means that I will not have a problem...

  • Hi Ken,

I have recently installed WHS and I, like GreenLizzard have computers which arnt connected that often. I have installed Windows Home Server Toolkit 1.1, but the option to change any settings have been removed. Are there any other ways of lengthening the threshold?

  • There are undocumented (and at this point, unsupported) registry edits that you could make. You'll find the required edits in this forum thread. There is nothing other than that.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
