Window 7 not Genuine Issue RRS feed

  • Its the first time i tuned on my laptop since i deployed and the first message i get is "Windows 7 not genuine".  I got this laptop custom from Ibuypower and had no issues.  Im not exactly sure whats wrong or how all this happened.  Its only been about a month in a half since i got it.

  • The key that is installed appears to be a default key or keyless install key. Please look on the bottom or inside the battery compartment for a COA key, install that key if it matches your version of windows and attempt to activate it, If there is no key then I suggest you seek a refund.

  • You will probably need to activate by phone, if you have problems try the following.

    Activate by phone

    1. Type "slui 4" in the start menu search box, hit enter

    2. Select country or region

    3. Dial the number, DO NOT select any menu options, just wait and a person will pick up.

    4. activate by phone.

  • I found the windows key, thanks for that. I tried it but i guess you have to be online to complete the process, it seemed like it would go through. i have to wait until im off to see if it takes that code thanke a lot.  I will post again to confirm if it takes or not.

  • It activated but instead of saying "Windows 7 not genuine"  in the bottom right corner now it saying "Test Mode Windows 7 Build 7600".  I dont know if that means im on some count down or if its ok.
