Is it worth taking the 70-536 exam? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, first sorry for my English, I'm not an English native speaker.

I work developing web applications using visual studio 2005 with asp.net, VB, Ajax.net, jquery and I was preparing 6 months by myself using the microsoft training kit, it was so hard because it contains a lot of chapters.
Now that I feel ready to take that exam, I read that it's no longer a requisite for .net framwork 4 certifications path!
So, Is it worth taking the 70-536 exam? pay 140€ for an exam that's not anymore necessary? I know I've learned a lot but I don't know what to do now.
My plans were to take this exam and then prepare for the Exam 70-562: TS: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, ASP.NET Application Development.
Please, what do you recomend me? Sometimes i feel as If I were wasting time in preparing for a deprecated technology (.net 2.0) instead of learning 3.5 or 4.
Please advise me! what should I do, take 70-536? or start learning framework 4?
    Thanks in advance!!

  • In my opinion, we are not in a point yet where we should drop .Net 3.5 and get ready for .Net 4.0. Even though we know now that you no longer need 70-536 exam for the new track but we still have to wait for a while to take .Net 4.0 track. Since you are already ready for this exam, I would say take 70-536 with 70-562 and upgrade yourself in the long run.

    Hope this is helpful.
