Bought new copy, rather than renewing. Still says expired. RRS feed

When my OneCare expired, I went to the local computer shop and bought a new copy for 19.95, rather than pay the 49.95 renewal.  I uninstalled the old and installed the new.  It seems to be working just fine, but keeps telling me that it's expired. I looked up my account, it says it's expired.  The warning message is irritating. How can I get this cleared up?

  • Go to http://billing.microsoft.com and sign in with your subscription LiveID. Click the renew link for the OneCare subscription shown. Select the option to renew with a PIN or Token and use the product key from inside the retail package. It can take up to 24 hours for OneCare to reflect the new expiration date. If it takes more than 24 hours, uninstall and reinstall OneCare and activate with the LiveID.

The problem is that you activated the retail install with the same LiveID, so it inherited the subscription you already had.
