ocs talking to lcs and vice vera RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am still having issues getting the lcs pool talk to the ocs pool.  Last Friday they seemed to be working.  Now I can't see any presence information and I cannot start a conversation from an LCS client.  The LCS server has the following KB's applied:

    KB911996
    KB921543
    KB925245

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

  • To enable LCS Communicator 2005 to work with Office Communicator 2007 R2, you will need KB949280. The latter depends on KB950614 being already present.

    Hope this helps.

  • The communicator patch breaks my Office communicatore so that I cannot log in.

  • Which patch are you referring to?  The OCS Migration guide has specific details on which coexistence patches should be installed on which server (depending on wheter SQL is local or on a separate back-end server) and in what order.

  • I assume you have Certficates installed properly on the LCS server? What happens when you simply restart the LCS service, does your presence come back?

  • I have the patches installed mentioned in the migration guide.  I assume there are no cert issues as I can log in fine to both pools and talk with both pools independently.  I am assuming we don't need SAN to talk between the two pools?  They have different certs on each pool.  Could this be address book related?

  • Make sure from your LCS server setup screen that it is listening on MTLS 5061. LCS does not do this by default. It my say TCP 5060, and TLS 5061, if it does delete the one for TLS 5061 and create a new one for MTLS 5061. Look at the event viewer on each server as well. They will surely point you  and all of us in the right direction if you post them. Good Luck

  • Do I have to add a host authorization on lcs at all?  This is just odd.

  • Well I changed the certs to include SAN on the OCS side and this seems to have helped.  I am still working on the LCS side...but this is the resolution so far.
