MCSD Certification Path

Question

If I want to get the MSCD App Builder cert I have to follow the path detailed here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/mcsd-app-builder-certification.aspx#cp-section3-head
Having re-read it several times, it is confusing, as it sounds like for MCSD you need 3 exams (2 from 70480 or 70483 + 70486 for MCSA Web Applications+ one that COULD BE 70486 for MCSD?). The EXTRA EXAM that includes the one needed for MCSA makes no sense.. Same goes if you get OR MCSA: Universal Windows Platform (70-483 && 70-357) the EXTRA exam can be either one of those.

I have the similar situation with MCSE, and I was in contact with Microsoft Learning support and they said that the exam cannot be used to satisfy the requirement for two exams as mentioned above.

Hi,
In order to obtain the MCSD: App Builder, you need to earn either MCSA: Web Applications or MCSA: Universal Windows Platform certification.
The requirements to obtain the MCSA: Web Applications is to pass exams 70-480 or 70-483 along with exam 70-486.
Meanwhile, the requirements to obtain the MCSA: Universal Windows Platform certification, you need to pass exams 70-483 and 70-357.
To obtain the MCSD: App Builder, you need to pass one (1) of the following elective exams:Note that an exam cannot be used to satisfy the requirements for both an MCSA and an elective in the same MCSD path.
