Thread links don't work in IE6.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Clicking on any message thread link will result in an error 500 (IE 6.0 only), preview works ok.

Live Sign-in also often results in an error 500 with IE 6.0.

  • We have a planned release coming soon. Please check out the announcements forum in the coming weeks and after we release see if that fixes this problem. If not, let us know that also.

  • Works for me as of 14:00 CST. (Note that I never have experienced this behavior either.)

  • Strange. I tried it both logged in, and as an anonymous user and it's been consistent. I'll try another IE 6 machine tonight.

  • Working fine on this IE6 machine. I will recheck the original problem machine after a clean reboot.

  • There have been a few 500 related issues recently resolved. If you can reproduce this can you give us the thread urls?

  • The page error returned after sign-in is fixed.

I'm still getting errors clicking on the thread links with one specific machine running IE6. I'm not sure what could be wrong with this machine as it doesn't seem to be having any other browsing problems. Other IE6 machines work fine.

Any of the thread links e.g. http://forums.msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/thread/2f261d39-b792-4565-bae0-28436ea90a6a

  • Usually when things are machine specific it is a config related issue or something along these lines. Can you double check to ensure you don't have some really high security settings, javascript enabled and do you have any anti virus software running? I'm not sure what is going on.

  • I reset the Internet Zone security level to Medium, and verified that javascript was enabled. There is no anti-virus installed on this particular machine. It's particularly strange because I haven't found any other site that gives problems for this machine.
