Port Forwarding RRS feed

  • Question

  •

To properly set up port forwarding, do both the modem and router need port forwarding set up?  Do I need to turn off the firewall on the modem and keep the firewall on the router up?  Thank you for your help.  Hardware: Modem - Actiontec GT-701-WG and Router Microsoft MN-700.

  • Please try configuring your router only - typically the modem won't require any additional configuration. If the uPnP configuration doesn't work from the Windows Home Server console, you will have to forward the ports manually.

  • All i did was left the modem alone and forwarded the 3 needed ports on the router.

    Leave the firewalls alone.

Your Connecter software may set it up, if not you will need to do it manually
