Can MESH run as service so I can log out of my server?

Question

Hi, I was wondering if MESH is able to be run as a service so I don't have to leave an admin user logged into my server all the time so this works when other people locally on my LAN change files.Thursday, October 8, 2009 9:48 PM

In theory, no. In practice, people have reported that if they log onto the PC and then into Live Mesh, and then log out of the PC, the file sync continues, though it is not supposed to. The sync process should not be a service that runs without a user being logged in. The Live Mesh service that does keep running and runs before you login is the service that supports the remote desktop connection.
Additionally, I'll note that Live Mesh as it exists today (the client) isn't technically supported on a Server OS, though it works.

Thanks Steve. I read somewhere I can run it as a scheduled task to run when the system starts up so I have done that and it seems to work ok. I just needed it to sync an access database file so I can see it elsewhere. There are other piece of software like dropbox and Gladinet but I find the Mesh interface the easiest to use and best looking.
I am also looking at ways of seting up folders on mesh to do offsite realtime backups of files just don't want the file to erase on sync if someone else kills it by accident.

The ability to prevent a deletion from all devices if it is deleted from one is something people have asked for in the past. The deleted file is supposed to go to the Recycle Bin on all devices that Live Mesh removes the file from, but that's still not a good safety net.
