Recover a deleted file

  Early today I deleted a file off my Desktop using the shift+delete method.  Once I realized I need that file, I right away went into the restore manager and checked to see if it'd help.  It wouldn't cause the file was created yesterday morning and there hadn't been a point made since then.
  
  I also went online and downloaded probably a dozen file restore applications.  Some free, some shareware.  Nothing seemed to find this file on my desktop.  They could find a thousand other files, just not the one I need.
  
  It's an NTFS partition...
  
  Anyone know of any real good recovery programs that might be able to pull this file back?
