  • Hello falling leaf,

It would seem that you are making a common mistake, assuming that the product key on the Windows Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) affixed to your computer is the product key that activated a Trial of Office 2007 included with a newly purchased computer.

Please understand that the product key on the Windows CoA affixed to your new laptop is for the Windows Operating System installed on the laptop only--it is not expected that this product key would activate any other Microsoft product, including Office.

Please read this Office Help article for more info:  http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA101936151033.aspx and this MS KB article too:  http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?SCID=kb;en-us;823570
