  • You sound the man with the plan.  On my laptop (Win XP Media 2002) I get "Task Mgr disabled by Administrator"  but I wouldn't know how to do that.  I've run Defender, Norton 360 and Spyware Doctor scans (and Registry Mechanic) but detect no trojans or such...looks clean.  I've searched windows with "Task Manager" but I get no hits.

Sorry to read about your issue, Bob. However, you're off topic for this forum, which is dedicated to Windows Live OneCare.

I'm not sure where you searched, but I found this KB article that may help:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555546

I can't vouch for this one, so use it at your own risk - http://www.taskmanagerfix.com/ - I can't find any "about" information for the site.

You may also want to try the Microsoft Public newsgroups here: http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx
