My Cortana not responding correctly. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Cortana is responding sometimes, but is not giving enough time to be able to process my voice commands and therefore, not being able to follow my commands. But the writing commands are working fine. I've tested my microphone as well, and troubleshooting could not identify any problem and found out to be well connected. How do I get fixed my Cortana voice commands?

  • I had a similar problem with Cortana. She could not hear me. Each time I ran trouble shooter, it detected and "fixed" a mute problem with the mic. But when I tried to use Cortana, she was again unable to hear my requests. Finally, I went into the Audio settings. There was one setting which , as obviously wrong. Once I corrected that, Cortana worked as expected. The setting was under Start/Settings/Time and Language/Speech. Under that you will have various choices, but one will include your mic and another whatever listening device you favor when listening (headphones, for example). It was in the settings for the headphones audio I found the problem which went undetected by the troubleshooting software. This setting fixed my Cortana problem, a problem which shipped to me, straight out of the box.

OK, I admit it. Meow. But who among us is perfect? Hissss.

    Happy trouble shooting, fellow investigators!
