Windows can't find computers in the Network folder RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can someone please tell me why, when Windows populates my network folder with my other computers (that are always on, by the way) when I click on one I get "Windows cannot access {computer name}.  Check the spelling of the name."  It makes me say "I didn't spell it! You did!  You were the one who found it in the first place."  Diagnose just returns "Windows can't find "{computer name}.  If the device you are trying to reach is nearby (which it is), make sure it is turned on (which it is) and is connected to the network (how else did Windows find it to put it in the Network folder?).  All computers have file sharing and discovery turned on with access to "everyone".  The computers are not part of a homegroup because when I create a homegroup on one computer the other computers tell me "There is no homegroup on the network.".  All computers can access my shared network drive.
