Communicator 2007 Configurations via Group Policy RRS feed

  • Question

  • Has anyone else experienced problems configuring the server settings for Communicator 2007 via a Group Policy?

I've created GPO to configure the server settings and connection method and I can see that the GPO has been applied to my computer. However when Communicator launches it fails to sign in. When I check the server settings both boxes are greyed out (as expected) but blank?

If I check the registry I can see the correct server settings are there they're just not being applied or used by the software?

The system works as when the settings are manually entered it sign's in and IM's can be sent etc.

    Anyone any ideas?

  • Jeff,

We've had good success using GPOs to deploy and configure Office Communicator 2007 for the server settings.  However, we're noticing other settings that we configured in the GPO do not take effect, specifically the disabling of audio and video calling that we wanted to implement for some of our trial participants.  Even though these policies are applied and the registry settings are present on their machines, they are able to use audio and video calling unimpeded.  Any ideas why this is not working?

    Thanks, Ben.

  • We seem to be having the same issue. Especialy when trying to specify the transport. The protocol shows and manual however the server name never seems to pull down. Is this a known issue?

  • Has anyone discovered any resolution of this issue where the GPO settings that disable Audio & Video seem to not be applied to Vista workstations?
In our case it appears to specifically be the TelephonyMode setting.
    We are running Communicator v.
    2.0.6362.111

    Thank you!
