Suggestion: Render HTML properly RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently edited the HTML of one of my replies to include a <table>  (you can see it here ). Problem is, when I posted it the table didn't actually render.

    Below is the HTML that I wrote along with the table that it rendered:

    <table border="2">
    <tbody>
    <tr>
    <td>u:browser_base</td>
    <td>Internet Explorer</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td>u:browser_version</td>
    <td>5.5</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td>u:platform_base</td>
    <td>Windows</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td>u:platform_version</td>
    <td>NT</td>
    </tr>
    </tbody>
    </table>
    u:browser_base Internet Explorer
    u:browser_version 5.5
    u:platform_base Windows
    u:platform_version NT

    As you can see it doesn't look particularly great does it? Where are the table borders for one thing? Strangely the table renders a lot better in normal authoring mode, but not when the reply gets posted.

    So, my suggestion is that you allow HTML to render properly, particularly tables.

    Secondary to that it would be nice if the forums had a decent HTML editor rather than one which is basically just a text editor.

    thanks
    Jamie

    Hmm, me thinks there is a stylesheet that's eliminating the borders.

    Yep. When I got the email alert for this post from Phil it showed off the table borders perfectly. Moreover, I can see the table borders immediately above here as I type this sentance.

    Why are table borders eliminated when viewing posts but they are visible when authoring/editing a post?
