Bootable dvd contents RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can someone PLEASE post a step by step of what is supposed to be on the bootable dvd!

I have been fighting this for nearly a week now and can't seem to get the right mix of files on the dvd to make it work. I know microsoft must think we are all ex-software engineers but their lack of real guidance is a kingsize pain.

I would really appreciate some point by point hand holding on this. I have been working with PCs since the original IBM came out and have never been this frustrated ... we can't all have a doctorage in software engineering.

That's about a close to hand-holding as I get. As far as what it "looks like" just look at the contents of the ISO, the DVD should look the same.

    Hope that helps...

    Hi,

Why you need to do anything more than burn the ISO you download from connect site?

Here easy way to burn it, if you have NERO, if not, download trial ver from www.nero.com

After install, go to start | Run | nero.exe

1 - Cancel "New Compilation pop up window.
2 - On top menu select "Recorder", then "Burn Image.."
3 - Select your ISO images you download from Connect in the open menu.
4 - In Action check the box "Write" and "Finalize disc (no more further writing possible" that in the TAB menu of that pop up.
5 - In Writing "Writing speed" try to slect like 8x or something, leaf the rest as it is.
    6 - Click on "Burn".
7 - Optional issue, you can check "Verify Written Date" in the burn window.

That all it take for the correct burn image "ISO" or another images type.

    Hope that help.

    My best.

  • You don't even have to do that much. You can right click the ISO and open it with Nero and it's ready to burn. Wink

That correct SME, but some times windows try to assign different type program to file, I just want it to be sure we here use "NERO"

Again, I am oldie, and use old method Smile

Again, right click and open with Nero. It's not rocket science. If it has no program "associated" with ISO it'll prompt you to pick one. If there already is something "associated" then you still have the "open with" option and you can still pick Nero. The long way will work, it's just more, unneeded, steps.

Of course, media matters too. Wink

  • Well,

Starter of the topic or anyone else reading this, have the option to chose what method will be best and easier for him (to start the program), but that not the case.

The steps above meant easy how to do thing, and insure the burn will be good (as we hope it will), at least from my point of view.

I can run program faster with Start | run, than right click, chose program with it ... etc.

Many steps in life as well apply with the rules "unneeded", but again, it good we know them.

    My best.
