  • Question

  •

    Hi,
I installed Microsoft dynamic CRM 4.0 and after some troubleshooting it is working fine. The only problem is I cannot run any reports.
    Here is the Error Message:
    Error
    An error has occurred.
Try this action again. If the problem continues, check the Microsoft dynamic CRM community…

    What is wrong?

  • Yes, install the connector on the SQL box but first ensure that your reports are deployed by going to the report server and check to ensure the reports are listed.

  • Are you able to go to the Report Server and run a report directly from the report server.  The URL should be something like http://sqlreportServerName/reports.  Dive into the folder name 4.0 and try to run a report to see if that is working.  If so, did you install the SRSS Connector.  You will find that application on the Dynamics installation CD.

  • It sounds like something went wrong during the installation.  Have you tried a repair?  Did you reference the report server URL during the installation.  It should have been entered in the format http://SQLServerName/reportserver

  • You can try a repair of the CRM installation.

When you installed SQL, before installing CRM, did you install SQL Reporting Services with it?  If so, you should be able to access the report server through the report server URL http://SQLServerName/reportserver.   This page will show some information about the report server.  If you have the Report Server installed and are not able to access it, ensure your SQL report services are running.  You might also want to check out this article about installing and configuring your Report Server.

  • Hi Donna,

    Thank you for helping me.

I am not sure if I had installed the SQL Reporting Services! (I installed my SQL server while ago and I really cannot remember). Please tell me where I can check to see if I have it or not. I checked the add or remove program and I don’t have it there. When I try http://SQLServerName/reportserver I get this error: Service Unavailable.

Please let me know where I can install the SQL Reporting Services from (if I need to do that). I have to mention that I am using Windows Server 2003 on my server image.

    Thank you so much,

  • Sorry for not replying more quickly, but I am not receiving alerts from the forum so I check back from time-to-time.

Go to Programs, MS SQL Server, Configuration Tools and you should find Report Services.  Configure your Reporting Services, confirm that you can access the Report Server using the link I referenced early and then install CRM.  Once CRM is installed, install the SRSS Connector on the SQL box.  This should ensure that the reports work as expected.

  • Thank you Donna.

I checked the Configuration Tools and I have the Report Services there.

Now where can I install the SRSS Connector on the SQL box?
