  • I am also having the issue at this time. Maybe it is an issue on their end. I know my windows is valid. I am reinstalling an old xp home to get fresh copy.

  • I as well.  Rebuilt three XP machines yesterday, and not a problem.

Rebuilding two machines today, same old HP 5000 SFF with XP Professional, and wham, this problem.

However, I did set up the Automatic Updates, and that ran fine and downloaded the necessary WinXP updates.  After restart installed Office 2003 on the machines, ran updates manually, and ignored the XP warnings and just downloaded/installed the "other" product updates.

I'm really thinking this is on their end, not ours...

  • I am having same problem also...verified time is set correct in Windows and system bios. The only way i can get past the clock sync error is to set Windows date back 1 day. SInce there are multiple people reporting the same "out of the blue" clock sync error...sounds to me like the WGA server date and/or time on MS end is wrong

  • I am having the same exact issue.  I imaged several PCs yesterday with our enterprise image just fine.  No changes to the image.  I imaged 3 PCs today all have the genuine advantage problem.

Something must be going on with Microsoft.  You guys need to get to the bottom of this ASAP.  Ridiculous for you to chew people out for not making an individual post when obviously something is going on at Microsoft.  We need a fix for this ASAP.

If I run the test I get a blank screen.

  • We are VLK customer and we just started experiencing this issue today as well.  All my machines are popping up saying "unable to complete genuine windows validation"  We have never had a problem until today and I ran the MGADiag tool and just like others am getting "Clock sync error"

  • As have I, and I'm getting the EXACT same error the SMurlaga, Agreen85 and NotTheReddBaron is reporting.  And I'm sure we're not the only ones...

  • I tried to set the date back and it worked. At least now I can download all the updates. Hey, Microsoft! Say something! What is going on?

  • Please set the correct PC time and date in the motherboard BIOS.

Clearly this isn't a coincidence of multiple users with VLK's experiencing the same issue at the same time across multiple sites.

Go to your Date and Time properties and set today's date as June, 6 2011. Don't change the time.

  • I just tried yesterday and it is doing updates.

  • Another VLK customer getting the same  "clock sync" error. WinXP sp3 time and date are correct on the work stations.

  • Setting the date back to yesterday enables the page to complete validation. The validation icon in the task bar goes away and everything but the date returns to normal. By the way, All of my machines are on the Mountain time zone. Perhaps their validation server is set to the 6th for some reason?

  • I'm having this exact same issue, also a VLK customer.
    Tuesday, June 7, 2011 6:57 PM
  • Setting the date to the 6th, then using Windows Update resolved this. I then changed the date back to the 7th, and the problem did not return, checking with the WGA validation tool.

There appears to be a problem with the validation servers covering your region being on the wrong date - be patient and try again in a few hours. Hopefully MS will have fixed the problem by then.

  • It seems if you set your date back and have installed the first bunch of updates, then after you restart your PC you can set your date to normal - validation will still work.

  • I've been fighting this issue for hours now, thinking my images were broken.  Rolling the clock back 1 day also worked for me.

  • I ended up contacting our support contact at Microsoft and wasn't able to get a resolution to this.

I did mention the backdating, updating, rebooting seems to work fine, but they simply took the information and said they'd leave the ticket open.

  • Setting the clock back is a "workaround" I wouldn't say that this issue is resolved and mark it such.  Im sure you and myself do not want to hand touch each machine that is coming online.

  • We are a VLK customer also and are having this problem on XP. Win7 is working OK. Hope Microsoft figures it out soon.
