Creating Mail Merge in CRM RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have word templates and my user wants me to create mail merge documnets within CRM 2011.

Does anyone have any good resources or information on mail merge in CRM 2011?

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

Not all the Entities in Dynamics CRM 2011 has Mail merger Function. you can find that out by checking,

    Setting -> Customization -> Entity(Account or Contact...etc Whatever) then,

If your Entity has Enabled with Mail merger then,

Settings-> Templates -> Mail merge template -> New(Save your Template in XML format and attach the Document, "Create New Mail Merge" Window), fill the appropriate information in the window then save and Close.

Then go to Entity, in the "Add" tab of the Entities Ribbon you should see mail merge button. Click the Button, select the Entity Fields and you can edit them in the mail merge Window

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi,

A good third party tool for MS CRM 2011 and MS word mail merge functionality is document core pack. I have used it myself and is good.

The out of the box CRM 2011 mail merge has many features but the document core pack has many more. It is not very expensive and it integrates with MS word very well. It has a bit of learning curve but in 2-3 days a CRM 2011 resource should be able to build word mail merge as required by your business.

Please have a look at the document core pack:

    http://www.mscrm-addons.com/Products/AddonsforMSCRM2011/DocumentsCorePackforMSCRM2011/tabid/170/Default.aspx

You can download their evaluation version and see how it goes.

I hope this helps. If my response answered your question, please mark the response as an answer and also vote as helpful.

  • Hi,

In that case, I advise to always view a video on YouTube. Watching a video and practically viewing how it is done is always helpful.

Please find a link to a good mail merge video:
