WGA fails on Office XP/2000 afer installing and later un-installing a trial version of MS Publisher 2007

Question

I have a WinXP Pro Dell PC and Office XP 2002 which has passed all previous WGA checks. After installing and later uninstalling a trial version of MS Publisher 2007, I started getting email notices that "Your Office Trial Ends Soon". Following the end of the trail period, WGA now says my Office suite is not activated. Clicking one of the apps, e.g. Excel, and selecting Register, the reponse is that it is already installed. It is clear that installing the MS Publisher 2007 trial left behind some remanant that is triggering this behavior.

Hello Khatsalano,
Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:

The report is telling us that your retail license installation of Office XP Pro is not activated. We see this occasionally here in the forums, where a longtime activated installation of Office XP suddenly reports as Nongenuine because the installation becomes not activated for an as-yet unknown reason.
Please try the "FixIt" in the Method 2 section of this MS KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/903275/en-us
Post back to let us know if it works for you.
