Who can answer this? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We want to develop an application that displays a message in a toolbar popup (like email popup when new mail arrives). But, we want to display the message when PowerPoint is in Slide Show mode.

The message for the popup comes from the internet (a message sent from a mobile phone into a SQL database actually).

Is it possible to show a toolbar popup when Powerpoint has control over the whole screen?

    Who can answer this?

  • As I can understand from your text, you want to create a Nofity Icon in the System Tray.

Check out this article http://www.codeproject.com/KB/miscctrl/taskbarnotifier.aspx and give it a try.

When this application is working, you can use a timer for example to get the balloon to show in 10 seconds and then start a power point presentation and then you can see if the balloon is showing when the PPT presentation is "running".

With regards to the automatically show the message, you probably have to create a small program that is running in the background and polling the database to see if there is a message to show.

For the future posts on the Forum, please make your thread title a question related to what you want to do;)
