Microsoft FrontPage 2002 activated but will not validate RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have had Microsoft FrontPage 2002 on my work pc for at least 4 years with no problems.  It is a genuine Microsoft product.  I have the COA, the box, the cd case with the product key on it and the cd set #.  When I check for Office updates it tells me this

    Microsoft FrontPage 2002:
Validation Incomplete: Office Must Be Activated

It is activated because I open it and it does not ask me to activate.  I go up to Help and click on Activate Product and this comes up

    Microsoft FrontPage

This product has already been activated.

    OK

When I uninstall FrontPage 2002 and then run Office update there are not problems.

I put FrontPage 2002 back on and it starts all over again.  I ran the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool (1.7.0039.0) and received this information

    Diagnostic Report (1.7.0039.0):

Can you try the following steps?  Please make sure you have your product key (for Office) available.

    1) Go to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\
    2) Delete the data.dat file.
    3) This data.dat file is for Office (not OGA).
    4) Once the file has been deleted, open an Office application such as MS Word (or your own personal favorite) and ACTIVATE it.
    5) After product activation is successful, try revalidating (this is the OGA part; Office Genuine Advantage) by visiting:
    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine  and click "Validate Office"

Please let us know if this resolves the problem.

  • This did work.  However, I opened Word as suggested and it did not ask me to activate.  I then opened FrontPage 2002 and went to Help and Activate Product and then it walked me through the activation process and was successful.  I then was able to go and check for Office updates without any problems.  I downloaded all needed updates.

Thank you very much for your help!
