Windows Installer Crashing(Hanging)!! Plz Help!!

  I have a WIndows XP SP2 system running. Recently I have a peculiar problem.
  Whenever I try to install or remove any applications using the Windows
  installer, ie, when I run .msi files, it crashes and opens up the debugger for the process msiexec.exe showing that "A new instance of Visual Studio".

   
  I tried re-installing the Windows installer, but no luck. Plz Help me with this regard.
