  • Question

  • Hello, I rebuilt my PC and was needing to activate and it failed with the OEM key supplied on the case (All ID's Readable if for any reason you need them) my key became blocked for some reason, arent they tied to the hardware? and is it possible for me to get it unblocked? What kind of info do you guys need from the auth. sticker?

  • To properly analyze and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )

    Once downloaded, run the tool.

Click on the Continue button, after a short time, the Continue button will change to a Copy button.

Click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your post. (please do not edit the report.)

This is not the key i attempted to use to activate but just the invalid one on the dvd Do you need info from the Authentic Sticker as that is my real activation info?
    Wednesday, January 9, 2013 11:57 AM
  • Yes please - but don't post the Key, just the supporting codes and the version/edition of Windows

The installed Key is the Default Key, used when no proper Key is applied during installation.

You should be able to change the Key to the one on the sticker, using the link at the bottom of the System properties page.

If you get an 'invalid key' response - what exact error (including any code) do you get??

0xC004F050 usually means that you've misread a character - either C/G/6 or B/8 or Y/V are the most common.

    Note that the following characters cannot be used - A E I L N O S U Z 1 0 - so don't bother trying unless you like the noise it makes :)

    an O/0 is almost always a Q

  • Gets about 65% through then says "The product key you have enter does not appear to be a valid product key. but when i manually place the key in and attempt to activate via CMD, it states the key has become blocked by the servers.

  • What are the last 5 characters of the Key you are entering?

  • In that case, see if your local Activation Center can help....
