CRM 3.0 To CRM 4.0 Upgradation Task is Not Respondig During Upgradation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi every one,

Please read this problem faced by me...

    I am having a client....

I want to Upgrade my CRM 3.0 environment into CRM 2011 environment.....

For that i am telling my details here...

    The client environment is having

    1. OS: Windows server 2003 Small Business Server (SBS) with SP2 (32-bit edition).

    2. Database Server : MS SQL Server 2000.

    3. CRM Version: MS CRM 3.0.

    STEP I :

WHAT I HAVE DONE IN CLIENT SIDE(i.e from MS CRM 3.0):

    1. I have taken database back up.
    2. I exported the custom entites, Workflows, reports, callouts and workflowruns successfully..

    STEP II:

WHAT I HAVE DONE IN MY SIDE:

First i planed to redeploy the client's exact  environment into my side.

    For that,

I brought one new system and i installed a Virtual Meachine Software (VM Ware) in it.

    now

    in that Virtual Meachine,

    1. I installed " Windows server 2003 Small Business Server (SBS) with SP2 (32-bit edition)".

    2. I installed "MS SQL SERVER 2005 STANDARAD EDITION" and then i installed "SP4" for this SQL Server 2005.

    3. Now i restored the Client's CRM database namely

        3a. Organizationname_MSCRM

3b. Organizationname_METABASE (both are .bak files) into my SQL Server 2005 edition.

The restoration task is completed successfully.

    4. Now I installed "MS CRM Redeployment Tool" and then by using this tool, i mapped the users in the client system into my active directory account.

In the Redeploymentation task, i deleted the client "license" table details "Organizationname_MSCRM" database. I made this because of the i planed to use the trail keys for the entire upgradation task.

Then only the "Redeployment Tool" is allowed me to do the Redeployment Process. The Redeploymentation task is completed successfully.

    5. Now I installed the MS CRM 3.0 in this "WS 2003 SBS OS".During installation i selected the option "connect the existing database".

The CRM 3.0 installation is also completed successfully.

Now, i imported the custom entites, Workflows, reports, callouts and workflowruns successfully..

Now i am able to access the CRM 3.0. It is exactly as the client's environment.

and able to export them from this newly created environment too...

    finally

The Redeployed CRM 3.0 Machine is having following things..

OS : Windows server 2003 Small Business Server (SBS) with SP2 (32-bit edition).

Database: MS SQL Server 2005 with SP4.

    STEP III:

    1. I downloaded the MS CRM 4.0 (32-bit) setup file from the Microsoft Download Center website.
I Selected the Enterprise Server Key : QCKXD-BDH8R-G74H8-RDYHX-R4K4T.

    2. I copied into this CRM 3.0 environment and then i simply runned the CRM 4.0 SETUP.

The CRM 4.0 setup file did not give me any kind of issues and it has gone smothly...

Now i got the UPGRADE button and i selected the UPGRADE button.

It has passed all the tests successfully but with 2 warrnigs..

Warning 1:The stored procedures in the Crm database are not consistent with Crm 3.0 stored procedures.

Warning 2:Setup has detected customizations in your current system that have not been published. If you continue, these customizations will be lost. To save these customizations, you must exit Setup and then publish the customizations.

and i did not any helpfull info from the help buttons too and simply proceed by using "next" button.

    Here i got the Problem...

    PROBLEM:

If we consider that the entire upgradation process as 100%, then initially it was going fine (Up to 90%)  but after couple of hours, its (upgradation task) status changed to not responding in task manager.

In order to solve that problem i used google and bing and find a remedy in the microsoft official site.

Remedy: This article is asked us

    1. To add the increase the time interval in the web.config file and

    2. To add the Registry key in the "REGEDIT" editor.

I killed the present process and again i used that Remedy and started again the Upgradation task.

The Result is same. It is completing upto 90% and after that it is becoming never ending task....

It is really terrible for me..

and i am unable to move forward a single inch too...

so, please give me your any valuable suggestions i will be very thankfull to you.......

  • Have you take a look at setup log file? You can find it in %APPDATA%/Microsoft/MSCRM/Log. If you find this file, please post the lastest message in the log file.

    Regards.
