  • Hi there,

I seem to run into problem using python-version of Caffe on the Ubuntu image. I think it is because the default python version is python 3.5 but the Caffe is built with python 2.7?

To produce the error, I did:

    python

    >> import caffe

    Error message:

ImportError: dynamic module does not define init function (PyInit__caffe)

Any ideas on whether I did something wrong?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

The DSVM has Anaconda Python with two environments: py35, with Python 3.5, and root, with Python 2.7. To get the root environment, at a terminal:

    source activate root

You can then run python and import Caffe.

  • Hi Gopi, I’ve sent a request via the service team asking for the Linux Ubuntu DSVM to be added to Batch last week and they said it should be there within two weeks. Any way of expiditing this as there is currently no Linux GPU enabled DSVMs in Batch? Thanks in advance, Owen

  • I have a significant problem with this VM and I'd appreciate some help a lot.

The problem is, instead of R Server's R, the R Open alone loads, so I don't have access to rx functions or any R Server package like RevoScaleR.

I've post a descriptive question on there forum here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/48480541/how-to-choose-r-servers-r-as-default-in-operationalization-remote-r-workspace

    Please do check it out

  • Mamalikidis,

I've posted a reply on StackOverflow. We have a StackOverflow tag for the DSVM, azure-dsvm, which helps us find StackOverflow questions more quickly.
