  • The license for this copy of Windows is, as I suspected, invalid for this computer.  You have an OEM SLP copy,

    Windows Product ID Type: 2
    Windows License Type: OEM SLP

OEM SLP copies are only valid on the original computer on which they are installed at the factory.  This computer was manufactured on October 30, 2007.

    <Date>20071030000000.000000+000</Date>

Windows 7 was not released to manufacturing until July 24, 2009, almost two years later.  There is therefore no way that this copy of Windows 7 could have been factory installed.

The SLIC table in the BIOS

    SLIC DELL M08

was set by the manufacturer for Vista and that is the only OEM SLP copy of Windows that is valid on it.  You need a Type 5, retail license for Windows 7 in order to be properly licensed for Windows 7.

You need to restore the original copy of Vista or purchase a full license (retail) copy of Windows 7 for this computer.  OEM SLP copies of Windows are non-transferrable and cannot be used to upgrade.

  • Please observe announcement 1 at the top of this page:

In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into a reply message in your own thread.

You cannot use the recovery disk from one computer to install Windows on another unless it is the same make and model.  A Windows 7 recovery disk is invalid on a computer that shipped from the factory with Vista.  The copy of Windows you installed needs to find codes in the BIOS on the motherboard that are specific to the original Windows and the computer's manufacturer.

Provide the MGADiag report as requested above for verification but I suspect you need to purchase a full license copy of Windows or restore the Windows that was intended for the problematic computer.

I have an Inspiron 1521 Laptop with Windows 7 downloaded on my computer. I am getting the error Windows 7 Build 7600/ This copy of Windows is not Genuine. I have restored the computer to an earlier time and still this did not correct the problem. When I purchased the computer Windows Vista was installed on the computer. The harddrive  crashed, so a new harddrive had to be installed on the computer. I had a recovery disc from my nephew and it was Windows 7. This is the disc that he received from Dell and it was never opened.
