CRM and Outlook Client Sync RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this question,  however I would like to "throw-it-out-there!" for additional comments.

At the moment we have a user who schedules appointments via the CRM calendar. This is working great etc, however the appointment will not get synchronised in CRM in real time (or at whatever interval the OL client is set to sync with CRM) unless the user has their OL application open. This is a problem when a user is on holiday as the appointment will not go into their OL calendar until they have synchronised.

Is there any way around this - I'm sure this has been asked before and I'm just curious as what the response to this scenario would be.

We are using:  Microsoft CRM 4.0 Roll Up 6 with Outlook 2007

    Thanks guys in adavnced :)

  • The user needs to be connected to the OL service provider in order to sync, probably as you expected.  So if the user is on holiday and for some reason creating appointments in Outlook, then the user needs to ensure he or she has an Internet connection for the sync to work.

  • If you're using Exchange 2007, you can create the appointment in the user's mailbox by calling EX07 Web Service. But you'll need to think about what happens when the user opens up their Outlook and the CRM client decides to synchronise- may need to stop the sync using the CRM client and instead use your tool to create appointments.
