Access to CRM Online source database RRS feed

  • Hi all,

     

    Do you know if it is possible to access the database CRM views in an Online scenario for information retrieving? Is there any kind of guide/sample/best practice I should check for that?

    If it is not possible, is there any other option to export data out of CRM?

  • There is no direct access to MSCRM database.  You can retrieve data using export to Excel from any view or report.  Fetch XML Reports and export.  There are also 3rd party import/export tools.  Finally there is the SDK option.

  • Is there any other automated tool/procedure for backing up CRM data? I think that  I can invoke the web services to retrieve all the information needed programaticall, but I was thinking that another (automated) option could exist. Am I wrong?

  • There is no standard feature for providing an automated backup option. As Frank mentioned, you need to develop something using the SDK, or buy a third-party tool that provides this feature.
