Product Key "Invalid"

Question
-
I recently bought a new laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed, but after a few days I started having some problems with my Internet Explorer, so (stupidly) I decided to reinstall my copy of Home Premium using the disc that came with the laptop. After it was reinstalled it asked for the product key. found this on the underside of my laptop and keyed it in. I was then told that the product key was invalid, but I dont understand how it would be invalid if i came with the laptop! My vista worked fine for about nine or ten days but now all I can do is go on the internet and cannot access any of my files because my copy of Windows Vista has not been activated!?!?! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please post here or e-mail me at: bigjay1989_2003@hotmail.com(donotspam)
Thanks!

Finnochio,
Can you get to Help and Support and then type in "activation?"

When I turn on the laptop and log into my user account I get a black screen with my build of vista (6000) then a window comes up with three options : use the automated phone system, access your computer with reduced functionality, and type in a differeny product key.
I bought my Laptop directly from Dell in Ireland and I dont think dell would be stupid enough to give out invalid product keys!! Also at the bottom of the black screen it says my copy of vista is not genuine! I did the online test to see if my copy was genuine or not but it said it could not verify whether or not my copy was genuine.

Identical problem, even reinstalling. I bought a Lenovo notebook with Vista Home Premium pre-installed and after entering the product key which appears on the bottom of my machine, I too am advised that the product key is invalid. Then was directed to use the phone option for activation and did that. I read nine strings of numbers, which appeared on the page that MS prorvided then was informed tha this number is invalid as well.
This machine is purportedly eligible for a total of $350 in rebates. Here's the catch: I can't apply for the rebates until Vista is activated and the deadline for the rebate application is in less than ten days. I've never been a conspiracy theorist but this has some unique circumstances.
If anyone figures out how to get Vista activated, respectfully request info on the magic you used. Thanks. coloradowry@yahoo.com

I'm having the same problem and it's really frustrating me. I rang up Microsoft only to cut off by the guy on the other end! Any ideas?
EDIT: My copy was pre-installed on my laptop when I got it but I had to reinstall. (32bit OEM)

This seems to be a problem thats happening a lot. I know there's always bugs when new systems or new technology is released, but a Beta version was released a year ago, aren't they released so that people can work out the bugs so they can be fixed?? I'm going to ring the automated phone system again tomorrow since I was cut off the last time just as an operator answered and if get it activated I'll post on here and let you guys know. Again, if anybody reading this knows how to easily fix this problem, e-mail bigjay1989_2003@hotmail.com(donotspam).Tuesday, March 13, 2007 1:06 AM

I phoned again last night after already trying but the system rejected my Installation ID. I had to do a system restore to get a different ID and after ringing again I got it to work.Tuesday, March 13, 2007 3:57 PM
