Office XP Pro shows Activated, Validation Tool shows Not Activated RRS feed

  • Question

  • Tried to update my Office XP Pro, but the Validation Tool showed the product was not activated.  When I opened Word and checked, it showed "This product is activated."  Verified IE settings and one ActiveX element (last one in list) was installed - validation tool still showed Product Not Activated.

WGA diagnostics Tool gives following results:

  • This suggestion (removing the Data.dat file) was easily implemented and seems to have resolved my problem.  The product now validates and I was subsequently able to use the Office XP update wizard.  Thank you for your help.

  • zimmerd,

You can also try and re-validate here at http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/ and opt to download the install

OGAPluinInstall.exe and run the install from your local machine.  If that doesn't work, please call Microsoft

to re-activate. The contact information can be found in this Microsoft article for Office Activation: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA012334341033.aspx#2
