  • What product key is it asking for: Operating System, Office, etc?  Where did you buy computer/software?  If this is a licesing issue, you might need to contact where you bought the product.

  • Hi,

as TWHarrington already said: You could contact the vendor where you bought the key.

You should also check, that you have the correct installation medium. There are a lot of different versions of one product available which all need a special key variant and no other keys will work. So if you got a OEM key from your vendor with system rebuild DVD, then you cannot take a System Builder DVD, install the software and activate it.

And Microsoft also has a piracy page. So if you bought a microsoft product and you have to find out, that you bought an illegal copy, then microsoft might be interested in it. http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/reporting/default.aspx

    With kind regards,

    Konrad
