  • Hi,

When you pass 70-448 you will be awarded the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS): SQL Server 2008, Business Intelligence Development and Maintenance qualification. You don't need to pass the 432/433 exams. They are indpendant.

  • Just my personal opinion. Even though it's not required I believe having a good overall knowledge of the SQL engine which BI depends on can be a benefit however I doubt you need to pass the exams to make it easier to achieve the BI MCTS.

If you are new to certification exams and you have knowledge and experience already in the 432/433 areas then completing those 1st may help you gain confidence when sitting the BI exam if you are newer in that area.

  • Dear Sean,

    thanks very much,one mre question.

Would being certified 432/433 make a difference or a benefit towards 448.

the reason I ask this as the BI certifications are different with different product developers and 432 and 433 are based more on MSSQL server (implementation and maintenance and developer), maybe if both are done than 448 would be a little easier and faster?

    Thanks

Doing 70-432 and/or 70-433 will not make 70-448 any easier as 70-448 deals with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and you spend most of your time using Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS).  SQL BI requires very little knowledge of the SQL Server engine as it hardly uses it.

70-432 and 70-433 deal with developing/administering against SQL Server and you spend most of your time using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
