HOW TO REMOTELY CONVERT COMPUTERS FROM MAK TO KMS CLIENT RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I already installed KMS Server and now that I have deploy it there are machines that were activated using MAK. In order to activate them via KMS I need to convert them from MAK to KMS Client. I have found a command how to convert them but it requires me to manually run it on each computer. The command is (slmgr.vbs TargetComputerName [username] [password] /ipk [xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx]). How can I convert remote computers from MAK to KMS Client using a single command? Can I use Group Policy to convert my remote computers ?? I don't want to manually convert them one by one. These computers are on remote locations.

  • You can use psexec from PsTools from Sysinternals .

Open CMD as administrator and go to PsTools folder.

    Syntax:

    psexec \\RemoteClientName -u user -p password %windir%\\system32\\cscript.exe %windir%\\system32\\slmgr.vbs /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

Where user should be a local administrator on the remote client.

    Good luck! )
