  • Hello all. I have a Lenovo laptop that came preinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Five months ago I did the Window Anytime Upgrade to to Ultimate (via the Microsoft website), it activated and I have had no issues until about a week ago, It is now saying that Windows is not geniune and that I need to activate Windows. I have not used the product key on any other computers.

  • bduerr,

Your problem is not the same.

Most Non-Genuine issue look the same regardless of the true underlying cause. So to help minimize the confusion caused by troubleshooting multiple different issues, we ask that all users creat their own thread for thier own specific issue.

In other words, please do not post "Me Too" messages in other people's threads.

Your product is shown as blocked. Try phone activation. they can firm it is blocked and hopefully tell you why it is blocked. The forum owner is the only one here with the tools to check the product key.

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) Click Start, and in the Search box type:   slui.exe  4

    2) Next press the 'ENTER' key

    3) Select your 'Country' from the list.

    4) Choose the 'Phone Activation' option.

    5) Stay on the phone (do not respond to any of the automated prompts) and wait for a person to help you with activation.

    6) Explain your issue clearly to the support person.

When I run slui.exe 4 it just says Windows is not genuine.

  • Try WGA support:

    North America: http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/cu_sc_genadv_master?ws=support&ws=support#tab4

    Outside North America:

    http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support#tab0

If that doesn't work you will have to wait for the forum owner to check your key.

  • Thanks. Chat bumped to the Microsoft Store support which informed me a refund was requested for both this another Anytime Upgrade I did for a different laptop on the same date. The only problem? No refund was ever requested. I am going to check the credit card history to verify the refund went through and repurchase the Anytime Upgrade. I'm marking this as answered, thanks.
