Network computer accessibility

Question
-
I have a home network with 4 computers(3 wired 1 wireless) connected to a router which is connected to the internet. All the computers see all the others on the network.
Two of the wired computers are task specific and there is no need to share files but it is desirable to share files between my desktop(wired) computer and my laptop(wireless). However, the wired computers cannot access the laptop and the laptop wants a password(unknown) to access any of the wired computers.
I would appreciate any assistance in my need to have the desktop communicate with the laptop.

This forum is for SQL Server, Transact SQL. It's not a generic windows/computer help forum. A little googling will find you something more appropriate.
It sounds like there are no shared folders on the laptop (hence no access) and the laptop is not providing appropriate credentials to the desktop.
The prompt you are getting is probably requesting a local user account which is present on the desktop.
Try using your normal login prefixed with the name of your computer, for example if your computer is named Desktop1, and your username is username:
desktop1\Username
with the associated password.
