Microsoft Word saying it is activated / Microsoft website saying it is not activated

Question
-
Microsoft Office 2007 Standard
When I go to Activate in Microsoft Word, it says the product is activated. When I try to install an add-in it tells me Product Not Activated. I had an older version of Word and purchased an Office 2007 upgrade.

Hi moderator
I have the same problem as CourtneyAllis and this is my MGA diagnostic.
As you can see I have Office XP small business and says not activated and when running one of the office apps and try to activate it pops "program activated" - Obviously the activation was done long time ago but can't remember when. So what should I do? I do not want to pay for another expensive license!!!!!
Ciao

I'm running up against the same issue. Microsoft tech support has confirmed this morning that this is a known problem with Office Genuine Advantage; validation can fail when there is more than one Office product installed on a computer, even when all products are legitimate. The Microsoft UK case number for this call is 1087468092. The technician implied that this had been reported several times already, but that no fix had been forthcoming.
This is especially stupid in micialover's case, as I believe FrontPage 2002 and Office XP Small Business were bundled together at least some of the time, just as OEM copies of Office XP Professional were bundled with Publisher 2002. In other words, users of more expensive Office suites that contained multiple product keys are more likely to fall over this problem.
I have a Dell running Windows XP Professional SP2 machine (I will upgrade to SP3 shortly). Windows has been kept as clean as possible and has never needed reinstallation. I purchased Office XP Professional with Publisher 2002 with the computer, though I had to install this software from the Microsoft Office CDs that Dell enclosed with the computer. I have that CD package on my desk from the support call - complete with the hologrammed CDs and the product ID label showing the Dell logo in black at the top left indicating that I have an OEM Microsoft product supplied via Dell.
I upgraded to Office 2007 Professional, but I still need Office XP installed, not least to work with legacy PowerPoint files. PowerPoint 2007 doesn't handle master slides very cleanly when working with legacy files - and I'm required to deliver some material to customers in PowerPoint 97-2003 format.
I never really used Publisher - I am an Adobe Creative Suite user, currently on Creative Suite 4 Design Premium. Adobe InDesign is far superior to Publisher for serious work, though a great deal more expensive! I uninstalled Publisher 2002 to save disk space - otherwise I would have three products showing in the diagnostics (Office XP Professional, Publisher 2002, Office 2007 Professional).
Microsoft - this is unacceptable collateral damage to users like me who purchase expensive Microsoft software rather than acquire it by unlawful means. Today, my computer popped up a dialog telling me that my Office XP Professional, for which I have the Dell invoice on file, is not legitimate. Effectively, you accused me of stealing Microsoft intellectual property.
You turned off Windows Genuine Advantage for a while when it was disabling legitimate Vista installations. I believe that you should and you must disable Office Genuine Advantage for customers with multiple Office products until you have thoroughly QA'ed a fix and deployed it. Tech support know that this is a problem - yet I had to waste half an hour on the phone before the technician admitted that there was nothing I could do other than uninstall Office XP (which, as I said, I cannot do).
The File Mismatch error in the File Scan Data is a bit strange. The timestamps indicate that these three files came from the original Windows CD-ROM and the digital signature verifies OK as signed by the Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher on 23 August 2001 at 22:20:05.
Should these files have been updated - and if so, what has gone wrong?
I would appreciate an update on what Microsoft intend to do about this completely unacceptable situation.
