path too deep RRS feed

  • Question

  • Why do I get "path too deep" errors when copying/moving a relatively small file (20mb) from my desktop to a USB flash drive? There is plenty of space unused on the flash drive. The file name is only 17 characters (including spaces and extension). I am NOT even trying to go to a sub-folder on the flash drive. I am running XP Pro SP-3 with 2gb RAM. I get this same exact error even after I shut down and restart.

Any help is appreciated as this error make NO SENSE AT ALL!

  • Given that your question is about Windows XP, not Windows Home Server, you could try the Windows XP forums.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
