Importing Opportunities against duplicate company RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I am have started a new role working on Dynamics CRM (hosted internally).  We are looking to import opportunities but it will not import all of them as there are duplicate companies with the same name (so it doesn't know what one to put it against).

From what I understand this can be valid as two completely separate companies can exists in different countries but with the same name.

Therefore is there any way when we do an import of opportunities that we upload against something unique like the accountID?  Or even the company name and country may work?

    Many thanks for your advice,

    Dan

  • Yes this can be done in the import mapping.  When importing you need to ensure your mapping states to match against the correct field.  If you are loading a CSV, it will pretty much always take you to the mapping page before import.  If you are using an import template, then you need to select Edit on the mapping.

Once you get to the field mapping you can select the lookup and define almost any field within the record to use as a match for the lookup (example below is for adding invoice ID as field to match on, but same idea applies).
