dir in powershell RRS feed

  • Question

  • My impression apparently is wrong. I thought that powershell was a superset of and a replacement for CMD.

When I type dir /? into powershell I get nothing, not even an error.

However, if I type dir, I get a dir listing.

If I type dir -?, I get a help listing for Get-ChildItem which is not the listing of switches I was looking for.

If I type dir /b /-c I just get errors.

Why is MS pushing people to use Powershell when I must also use CMD to do what I have been doing???
