  • Actually you do not need to worry as Port 80 is only optional for WHS2011 (http:// access). Set up your router to port forward Port 443 to your server and you will have secure remote access (https://).

  • Manually configure your router to port forward Port 443 to your Server IP address (ideally fixed on your local network). Use ShieldsUp at www.grc.com from a client computer to confirm that the port is actually open and correctly forwarded (you should get a red box for Port 443).

Even though you don't need Port 80, Remote Web Access in the Dashboard is likely to tell you it is not working even though it is! Remember that to access your site you will need to use https://servername.homeserver.com

  • i believe i have set everything up but get a red box that says open?

  • That's correct - you should be able to access it from the internet. If you don't have a way of testing it, post the URL here and I will see if I can see it.

  • web access still says it needs to be repaired?

  • That's what I said above, due to Port 80 not being available (blocked by ISP) but you should still be able to access the site by https://
