Re-activation after new harddisk install RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi there

after having installed a new ssd and reinstalled win 7, it asked me (sometimes) to validate/activate what i ignored. now it says not to be sure whether windows is genuine. so i go to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine to check. i download the file and install it, but while installing, a message pops up saying (in german) "You might be victim to pirated software. To use all functions....etc" and giving me a link to - guess where - http://www.microsoft.com/genuine. if on http://www.microsoft.com/genuine i then click on "continue", it tells me to wait until installation is complete and then click continue or to read about issues. what doesn't help at all.

I also tried to enter SLUI 4 as admin in the console, which only makes windows pop up telling me that windows is not an original. it gives me a link, too - to http://www.microsoft.com/genuine, what, as i stated several times before, just doesn't work!

Here's the output of MGA Diagnostic Tool:

  • The installed Product Key is a KMS Volume License Key - and requires periodic re-activation at a private server with at least 25 clients attached.

Does what shows of the Key here agree with your own Key? If so, you were sold a counterfeit.

    If not...

You need to change the Product Key to the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case (or inside the battery compartment, or on the Proof of License card),  using the Change Product Key link at the bottom of the System properties page.

You may need to activate by phone.
