Genuine Advantage problem

Question
-
I've been using the same copy of Windows XP that I purchased from Newegg several years ago without problem. I returned from work today and I see that the Windows genuine Advantage validation failed during my latest update. Again, Ive been using this same copy for years without issue.
Here is my diagnostic report:

The Product Key in the first report is a Blocked Volume License Key - in the second report, the new Key is shown as being another Volume License Key.
The second Key is one that was never issued by MS - which is why the report shows it as 'Invalid Product Key'
Neither of these Keys could have been purchased from Newegg - Volume License Keys are not for sale to the general public

Assuming your license is for Windows Xp Pro, use the PKUT....
Use the Product Key Update Tool - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/help/genuine/product-key to change the Key to the one on your COA sticker, then reboot and post a new MGADiag report so we can confirm that everything went OK

First of all, thatks for your help with this. I went back and looked at my Newegg history and it looks like I only bought a 64 bit copy of XP from them (which I can't use with my work system). I must have purchased this from somewhere else like ebay. It doesn't make any sense why it would take over 3 years for this to come up as not genuine. I run regular updates. Does it make sense to you? Since it's taken so long is there anything I can do about it?

It's possible that the original Key has only recently become blocked as the proper owner upgraded to Win7 and revoked their old WinXP license - or the fraud was only discovered recently.
Unfortuantely, at this point in time I can see no way of recoveing your money - and unless you have all receipts/packaging etc, you're unlikely to qualify for a free replacement (which would be Win7 anyhow).
I'd recommend purchasing a Full retail license for Windows7 (or 8) - of whichever flavour you actually need (the Get Genuine Kit would also work and may be sllightly cheaper - but has a limitiation restricting it to use on the affected computer)

Concur w/Noel re:why now. Volume licenses are a dynamic thing.
In case you have your purchase receipt and materials (disc, CoA, etc), here is the link to start a Counterfeit Software report: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/howtotell/cfr/report.aspx
