Connector software fails to connect on Win7 Ultimate x64 (tried almost everything) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys, I hope you can help me with this one

So you probably figured whats is about, the connector software issues the "an unexpected error has occurred to resolve this issue contact the person responsible for your network"

I've tried a couple of things,

    - Renaming that registery key, Pending(~something) which I dont have

    - Enableing Windows media center services (schuelder and network shareing)

    - Instead of IPv6 connector name, I tried the IPv4

    - .NET 4.0 installed correctly

    - Unpluging the WAN cable from the router, and even unpluging the router using a switch and static IP's

    - Deleting old CSetup files, and "redownloading" them again from the server using connector

    - Disableing and uninstalling MSE

    - Both server and client are updated to the latest updates, no pending updates or any reboot is asked for

    - Remote desktop services are running (had to enable it)

    - Check that both Server and client uses the same timezone and updated the time on both machines at the same time

    - Disableing the IPv6 protocol on the client PC

    - Tried the wizard, http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=23621

    - Repaird, and reinstalled .net 4.0

    Some log files;

  • Have you tried to disable the firewall on both client and server to see whether the connector will install?

Another person had an issue with his Bullguard anti virus which would not play nice with the connector install. You had mentioned MSE, which I assume is on the client had been uninstalled. Is there another AV of some sort on the server.

I have only had a connector failure once which was a .net 4 issue. Repairing it did not fix the problem. I had to remove it and re-install.

Just trying to throw some idea's your way.

Hi Dave and thanks for your reply

I narrowed it down to be a process on the server (error shows in the Event Viewer), as I couldnt connect to live services either (.homeserver.net) and haveing errors while seting up URL rewrite amongst other features I decided to reinstall

Now it works as intended to, atleast this far

I think the error process was called Service(or System)Host<something>.exe (my bad that I didnt copy the error msg, sorry

    Anyhow thanks for your help!
