Over one year trying to get indexed by MSN RRS feed

Answers

  • You are in our index which is one positive:

    http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=site%3A5bestvacationrentals.com&form=QBRE

I'll give it to you though; the sitemap listing issue is weird. You might try submitting your sitemaps again while I see if I can get some info from my side.

  • I am not sure what happened, but today the errors are gone.  It appears MSN corrected the error on their end somehow.  However we will need to wait for the need crawl to see what happens.  Will they show up again?  Will they crawl and index the entire website?  Right now only 4 pages are listed as crawled and indexed out of around 700 pages.  I sure hope they get listed because even though people say MSN doesn't generate much traffic, I have found good rankings in MSN can bring a lot of potential customers and can make the difference toward being a profitable business.

We'll wait and see if the issue is solved and if my website gets fully crawled and indexed.  Hope so!

  • I resubmitted my site map index and re-uploaded the xml sitemaps to my server.  I wonder if when I first registered this URl I entered something wrong or there was a glitch in th program.  Would it not be a good idea to just delete this website and start over with a new entery of the website?

  • Hi

Your best bet is to sign up for Google Analytics, Google webmaster tools and Yahoo's webmaster tools. They are all free, and they will give you all the information you want. Then just pop back to MSN once a month to see if they have bothered to list you. Don't waste your time thinking you have done something wrong, you probably haven't. Traffic is minimal from MSN because their searches are irrelevant, its just luck of the draw if you get listed.

    Best regards

Recently MSN crawler attempted to crawl my website and the same errors with the double url occurred.  I have re-created the sitemap index and sitemaps, resubmitted the sitemap index, and still get the same results.  Any clue on how the crawler creates this double URL error?  I am thinking deleting the whole website entry from the MSN webmaster tools and then re-entering it anew may be worth trying?

  • When I go to MSN "Crawler Issues"  I get the following now for http://www.5bestvacationrentals.com

    Date Last Found
    1. www.5bestvacationrentals.com 8/21/2008
    http://www.5bestvacationrentals.com/%3Chttp://www.5bestvacationrentals.com/central-east-coast-florida-sitemap.xml%3E
    2. www.5bestvacationrentals.com 8/22/2008
    http://www.5bestvacationrentals.com/%3Chttp://www.5bestvacationrentals.com/central-west-coast-florida-sitemap.xml%3E
    3. www.5bestvacationrentals.com 8/21/2008
    http://www.5bestvacationrentals.com/%3Chttp://www.5bestvacationrentals.com/disney-orlando-sitemap.xml%3E

Anyone got any ideas about what would creat such an URL?  Is it possibly from how I entered info when I first set up the account?  Should I delete this website from MSN and start over?

  • My site has been indexed for a couple of years, it does ok on google and yahoo, with thousands of pages indexed but with MSN there is only 1 page indexed. Its pathetic, it doesn't matter what you do, you're wasting your time.

Think about it, if you are looking for something on the Internet, what search engine do you use? I am 99.9% sure your answer wasn't MSN. The main reason for that is that their results are not relevant. Concentrate on making your pages user friendly to the search engine that "YOU" use.

  •   I did get a few pages indexed last week by MSN Live.  I am getting some traffic from my home page.  There are about 49 pages indexed out of 677 or so.  At least a few got in there.  I hope a few more will be added each day, each week until they are all found.  Some time ago, for one day, a bunch of pages were in the index, I had great ranking, but the next day they were all gone..  Maybe I did too good a job of optimizing my pages?  Is that possible?  Weel,  if  I keep getting more pages indexed and a fair shot at good rakings I wil be happy.
