Server sees my account to be part of the gues account......... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ive been using WHS now for about 2 weeks. Out of the blue I could no long access my laptops user account (Rotifer). If I try opening the shared folder from my wifes laptop using her account (YaYa) it opens with no trouble. I have deleted the account, computer and connector software. But that did not help at all.... I then found that I could open music,video,photo....Those are all allowed to be read by the guest account. So in the guest account I allowed it to read my shared folder, and what do know, I can now open my shared folder. What the heck is going on? Where and why did the paths get crossed. How can I fix this?

  • I tried every thing you suggested, both nothing worked. The only thing that finally fixed the problem, was reformating the laptop. Now I did this for more than just that problem. I do feel that some of the other problems, caused this problem with the server.

  • Hi,
does your user name and the password match with the user name and password you created on your Home Server?
Did you rename your local user account at any time, so that display name and user name are not identical? If yes, check this FAQ.

Did you store at any time credentials to access your home server on the client, which may not longer match? Click Start/Run on the client, type control keymgr.dll and click OK. Delete all entries pointing to your WHS, if there are any. Logoff and try after logging on again.

Did you enable the Guest account on your WHS? Try to disable it.

  • Okay I'am running late for work. When I get home from work I will try that, and let you know.

  • Please review the FAQ that Olaf pointed you toward carefully, and make sure you follow the directions in it exactly.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
