I am new to WHS, but have received this message several times over the past month. I understand what is going on, but not why.
My system is relatively new - e.g.: 1 month. It has 3 1tb drives. The mirroring option is only turned on for 1 directory. And I have copied about 800mb to the WHS server, but it's sat fairly quietly (other than nightly backups) for 2 weeks.
Given the files that pop up, I suspect that there may be an issue with the vendor supplied McAfee Total Protection Service and how it is handling "drive extender". Virtually all of the files have been network management tools that McAfee often flags - e.g. port scan.
I've turned off Desktop Search and the media sharing software, for now. The problem persists.
Has anyone else had any issues with McAfee? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Is there something within WHS that could cause this?
I'm running Acer H340, 2gb RAM, 3 1tb disks.

I assume you are getting File Conflict errors with that message? If so, please see the FAQ post: How do I resolve file conflicts for details. Having said that, if you are using the WHS-specific version of McAfee, you shouldn't be seeing that. I assume this is a pre-built server? If so, which company did you purchase it from (HP, Acer, etc.)?Monday, November 2, 2009 12:50 AMModerator -
I followed the link above in prior days, which explains the what is going on. I'm still trying to figure out the why.
Given that all of the files with this issue, to date, are files that McAfee has flagged in the past on my desktop PC...I have a strong suspicion that this is McAfee related. But, it's a bit like assuming fire because I smell smoke. I have no proof.
As noted, the server is an Acer H340 (EasyStore). McAfee was installed by Acer and is reported to be WHS specific and clearly includes a Console management tool.Monday, November 2, 2009 1:59 AM -

I think the best option for you at this point is to contact Acer for support. However, just so you're forewarned, I would expect them to suggest a Server Recovery (or whatever Acer calls the function that wipes the OS but leaves the data in tact) pretty early on...
