Lately for the past week I have been getting either a notice (Optional update delivery is not working. You may be a victim of software counterfeiting..) or a note on my wallpaper desktop that says "Windows Build 7600 This copy of Windows is not genuine"
I bought this acer laptop which came with Windows Vista. When Windows 7 came out I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium. I've been getting the Optional Update delivery is not working notice on an average of almost 1 per day for the last 6 days. Whenever I follow the link to validate and whatnot it processes and says something of the sort that the Windows is genuine and then also mentions Windows Security Essentials. The problem is that I seem to keep getting this notice even though I've gone through that process 3 times now.
I'm hoping that I don't have to reformat my laptop because I have no idea what is the problem and when I look around I don't seem to have the same problem/solution as others. I've looked at the services.msc to see if the sppsvc is set to Automatic (Delayed start) and if sppnotify is set to Manual, and they are.

There appears to be no current problem with Activation or Validation of Windows - but you DO have a non-genuine copy of Office XP Pro installed (which wouldn't affect your Windows Updates)If you read the Validation site, you are being offered MSE because you passed Validation - if you had failed, there would be a very different response!I suggest that you repost your problem in the Windows Updates Answers forum here:-(note that the WU forum is common to XP, Vista and Win 7)
